A.R. Rahman, the two-time Oscar-winning Indian composer behind “Slumdog Millionaire” and “127 Hours,” is launching ARR Immersive, an app bringing his decade of immersive storytelling work to Apple Vision Pro on July 22.
The app draws on Rahman’s ongoing work in immersive formats, tracing back to “Le Musk,” a 360-degree virtual reality film that debuted at the Cannes XR Festival. ARR Immersive marks the first time content from “Le Musk” has appeared on Apple Vision Pro, with the footage reworked for the headset’s spatial format.
The launch library also includes original content made exclusively for the platform. Three Kathak dance performances merge Western orchestral scores with Indian classical dance, featuring performers Pranith AP, Palak Chauhan and Mudra IV, with choreography by Shrita Baskar. ARR Live, a dedicated section devoted to Rahman’s concert performances, completes the initial lineup. Further titles are being developed for later rollout.
“For me, music has always been more than something we hear, it is something we feel emotionally,” Rahman said. “Technology now allows us to experience stories and music in ways that were unimaginable just a few years ago. With the ARR Immersive App, we wanted to create a space where audiences don’t simply watch a performance or listen to a composition, they feel present within it. This is about bringing together music, storytelling and innovation to create experiences that are deeply personal, emotionally engaging and truly immersive. I believe this is an exciting new canvas for creators, and this is only the beginning.”
ARR Immersive can be downloaded through the Apple App Store, debuting first on Apple Vision Pro, with a Meta Quest release to follow.
