A possible suspect is in custody after two people were stabbed in broad daylight in Manhattan's residential Upper West Side neighborhood, authorities said.
The first victim, a 40-year-old man, was walking on the sidewalk near West 86 Street and Broadway on Thursday when the knife-wielding suspect approached from behind and stabbed him once in the back, according to police.
The suspect then walked to West 86th Street and Central Park West, where he approached the second victim, a 50-year-old man, and stabbed him once in the chest, police said.
Both victims were taken to the hospital, where one is listed in critical condition, police said.
It's unclear whether the attacks were random, police said.
